Helping Foundations See Their Complete Food Relief Landscape

FastRoots gives community foundations the visibility they need to fund strategically,
identify gaps, and coordinate effectively across their region

OUR MISSION

Built for Visibility, Not Just Compliance

Traditional resource directories cover many issue areas broadly, go stale quickly, and aren't designed for funders making strategic decisions.

We believe foundations deserve tools that show them their complete ecosystem: not just the organizations they fund, but everyone serving their community. FastRoots makes it simple for foundations to see who's doing what, identify gaps and overlaps, and make funding decisions with the full picture.

OUR STORY

Born from Necessity in Western North Carolina

FastRoots was born from necessity during the relief efforts following Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina.

When a funder and fiscal sponsor were coordinating three food relief organizations with zero visibility into the broader landscape, the gaps became painfully clear. Nobody had a complete picture of who was serving where. Funders couldn't identify underserved areas or spot duplication. Coordination happened by accident, if at all.

We built FastRoots to solve this visibility problem. Within six months, those same organizations had a shared map of the region's food relief ecosystem. They discovered collaboration opportunities that had been invisible, coordinated distribution more effectively, and produced the region's first collective impact report.

That experience showed us what's possible when foundations can actually see their complete landscape.

OUR VALUES

What Guides Our Work

We believe foundations deserve better tools to see and understand their ecosystems, not just manage grants.

FastRoots is built on four principles:

Transparency

Foundations see the complete picture: every organization serving their region, not just their grantees.

Collaboration

We design for shared visibility and peer connection, not
top-down control.

Impact

Every feature helps foundations move faster toward strategic funding decisions and measurable community outcomes.

Grantee-Centered

Organizations in the ecosystem benefit too, gaining visibility into peer work and discovering collaboration opportunities.

OUR COMMITMENT

Building a Movement, Not Just Software

We're not just building software. We're building a movement toward more informed, more strategic philanthropy.

Every foundation we work with becomes part of a growing community learning how to see their ecosystems clearly and fund more strategically. We're committed to sharing what we learn, supporting peer connections, and continuously improving based on real-world feedback from the field.

This is about changing how philanthropy works together, one ecosystem at a time.
